Whirlwind
Unfortunately little Miss Chloe didn't have the easiest start in life. She went directly to the newborn nursery after her birth, and shortly thereafter was admitted to the NICU. My sweet little baby girl that I thought would be right on time or maybe even a few days late, decided she needed some additional time to ripen before we took her home. I won't sugar coat it, going home from the hospital without her was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. The following two and a half weeks have been a complete whirlwind.
For those of you who may not know, I volunteer with the Junior League of Plano. This past year, my placement was Kangaroo Krew, where I volunteered at Plano Presbyterian in theNICU and visited with moms on bedrest. Never in a million years did I ever think it would be me...or us...on the otherside.
As you can imagine, our car has been on auto pilot heading to and from the hospital. Holding Chloe and looking into her big beautiful eyes has been the highlight of each and every day. The NICU nurses at the hospital were top notch and took such amazing care of her. As you can imagine, we've been running on empty. We don't have the time, energy, or desire to eat. The only thing we want is for our little girl to come home. My diet has consisted mostly of Starbucks and breakfast bars. It has been completely crazy and exausting...and I guess in that sense it hasn't been much different than a normal birth.
