A Beautiful Day in Our Neighborhood...

Today was just sort of a low key day! That's okay though...we need some of those every once in awhile too! The weather was beautiful...and it was actually cool enough to take a walk without sweltering. When Chloe got up from her afternoon nap, I loaded her into her jogging stroller and off we went. Once we started out, I thought it would be fun to stop by our friend Herta's house. Herta moved here eight years ago from Wisconsin to be closer to her family, but she's originally from Austria. She was a war bride...and married at a very young age. She is such an amazing woman. Over the course of her life..she's been an actress, model, business woman, real estate agent...not to mention a wife and mom! She done unthinkable, crazy things too...like flying American soldiers in WWII to safety on glider planes. Herta never tells her age, but she is a remarkable woman with so many interesting stories to share. She taught me how to make Stolen (a German Christmas bread) that we have made together during the holidays for a few years. Her apple strudel is to die for, as she makes the thinnest and flakiest pastry you'll ever have. We enjoyed visiting with her and catching up. She enjoyed our impromptu visit and got a kick out of seeing little Chloe in her tiny jeans. Afterwards, our neighbor Courtney (who has 4 weeks left until little Owen arrives) and her dog Charlie joined us for the rest of our walk. We just couldn't get enough of the fresh air and beautiful blue sky!

I am so jealous that Herta is your neighbor. I would love a friend like that. So sweet of you to stop by with Chloe. Last Tuesday was wonderful!
